Privacy Policy — Faraway Stats

Faraway Stats ("the extension") is a browser extension that displays card statistics and personal game analysis for the game Faraway on Board Game Arena. This policy explains what data the extension handles and why.

Who operates the extension

Faraway Stats is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Board Game Arena or its publishers. The extension communicates with a backend service operated by the extension's developer at https://boardmeta.chu-labs.com.

What data we collect

The extension only handles data needed to provide statistics and your personal game analysis:

• Account information. If you choose to create an account, you provide an email address and password. The password is transmitted over HTTPS to our backend to create or sign in to your account; we do not store your password in the extension.
• Authentication tokens. After you sign in, access and refresh tokens are stored locally in your browser (chrome.storage.local) so you stay signed in.
• Extension settings. A backend URL setting is stored in chrome.storage.sync.
• Game replay data. When you are signed in and click "Save to History" on a Faraway replay page on Board Game Arena, the extension sends that page's public game content to our backend over a secure connection. We use it only to build your personal Faraway statistics and game analysis, and we keep just the game details from the replay, not the page itself.
• Card queries. During a game, the extension sends the card numbers currently in play to our backend to retrieve aggregate statistics. These queries are not used to identify you.

The extension does not collect your browsing history, does not track you across websites, and only runs on boardgamearena.com.

How we use the data

• To authenticate you and keep you signed in.
• To generate and display aggregate card statistics.
• To build and show your personal Faraway game analysis from the replays you choose to save.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising or marketing.

Data storage and retention

• Account data and saved game analyses are stored on our backend for as long as your account exists.
• Locally stored tokens and settings remain in your browser until you sign out or remove the extension.

Your choices

• Using the extension anonymously. You can view basic aggregate statistics without an account. Advanced stats and saving replays require signing in.
• Signing out. Use the extension's popup to log out, which clears the locally stored tokens.
• Deleting your data. To request deletion of your account and saved analyses, contact us at the email below.

Permissions

• storage — to keep you signed in and remember your settings.
• Host access to boardgamearena.com — so the extension can display stats on the game pages.
• Host access to boardmeta.chu-labs.com — to communicate with our backend API.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
